This Mixtec carved jade figure dates to 1300-1500 AD. It is mounted on an 18K gold ring. The ring is a size 8. The gold portion of the ring is stamped "18K". The jade carving is a classic Mixtec penate. The penates were household gods and/or ancestor representations. Although many penates exist, few are carved of jade of this fine quality.
