This carved stone was found in excavations near the Maya ruins of Utatlan in the department of El Quiche in the Guatemalan highlands. It was used during pre Columbian times and is at least 500 years old and possibly much older. I have been told it appears Olmec in origin, but Utatlan was a Mayan ruin, so I presume it to be Mayan. It measures approx 3.25" wide x 4.7" tall x 2.8" in depth, has a flat on the bottom to stand and is in very good condition, there have been no repairs.
